SoI figured out the other day that I have been home five nights in the past three weeks. (More now since I have been home since Sunday - but still) Its hard getting used to being at home. I have woke up every day this week in a panic that I am running late to get on the road to Portland and I haven't packed or anthing! I am driving up there today, but it won't be until after noon, so I am all good.
So you heard how my trip to San Diego ended... last week in Eugene went much better. And yes, its true, my annual "vacation" is 45 minutes south in a dorm at the U of O. This was my fourth year at "McGown Western Teacher's Workshop." Basically a week of intense rug hooking training in which I am preparing to be a certified instructor. There are a lot of requirements before you get your actual certification, but I have a lot of them done at this point. The most challenging was the teaching. I was assigned a pattern to develop into a rug last June, and had to teach it to a class of 12 this year. It went really really well! Here is the final product:
It was really simple, the point of the class was to introduce people to rug hooking without a lot of expense. All the wool used in the rug was "as-is", "as-I-Found-it" (meaning it may have been dyed, but it was left over from another project) or used clothing. One lady in the class said that she didn't like any of the patterns offered that day, but she chose my class. She said she still didn't *love* the pattern, but the way I presented it made her want to like it a little bit more. Hey - what more can I ask for! There was one lady in my class who is my idol, she is so talented and has been hooking for like 50 years. Even she liked the class! yeah!
So, I am just getting started working from home. It is a challenge, but I think I can do it! I have a big desk set up in my kitchen, and I am ready to go! :)
